Two Years of Legislative Progress for Our Dental Clients

The 2021 and 2022 legislative sessions of the Maryland General Assembly brought significant positive momentum for our firm’s clients.  In 2021, Senate Bill 836 passed, requiring a report reviewing the disciplinary process and actions of the Maryland Dental Board.  The report seeks to improve the disciplinary process and, importantly, to ensure that the Board’s licensees are afforded due process during the pendency of a disciplinary action.  After a similar bill failed to pass both chambers in 2021, Baxter Baker attorneys Danielle M. Vranian and Gary R. Jones advocated for a 2022 due process bill drafted by Ms. Vranian guaranteeing that Dental Board licensees facing disciplinary action by the Board of Dental Examiners will receive a final decision from the Board within 120 days after their hearing.  The bill passed both chambers and was approved by the governor.
