MICHAEL J. BAXTER practices in a variety of health
care law and litigation areas including the defense of health care
providers in malpractice litigation, the representation of individual
and institutional providers in peer review, licensing and credentialing
matters, and general counseling of acute care facilities.
He has published articles on various health care law
and litigation topics in such publications as the Maryland Bar
Journal, the Journal of Health and Hospital Law and the
Medical Staff Counselor. He has lectured locally for the Maryland
Institute for Continuing Professional Education of Lawyers (MICPEL)
and nationally for the American Health Lawyers Association on issues
involving general litigation, professional liability litigation,
exclusive contracting, and managed care credentialing.
Mr. Baxter is a member of the Bar Association of Baltimore
City, having served as President of the Association and chairman
of the Professional Ethics Committee and the Judiciary Committee.
He is also a member of the Maryland State Bar, having served on
its Board of Governors, the American Bar Association and the American
Health Lawyers Association. In addition, Mr. Baxter is a Fellow
of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
Mr. Baxter graduated cum laude from the University
of Maryland and with honors from the George Washington University
National Law Center.
